This opportunity is designed for a finance or accounting graduate looking to gain practical workplace experience and develop a strong foundation in financial operations.
About the Role
The Finance Intern will provide administrative and financial support to the Finance team while gaining hands on experience in a professional corporate environment.
The successful candidate will be exposed to basic accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, financial administration and business processes. This is an excellent opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a practical setting while developing valuable skills for a future career in finance and accounting.
Key Responsibilities
The Finance Intern will assist with capturing and maintaining financial records and data accurately. The role will also involve supporting the processing of invoices and related documentation.
The intern will provide support with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, as well as assist with bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations.
The successful candidate will help prepare monthly financial reports and schedules and will be responsible for organising and filing financial documentation according to company procedures.
Additional responsibilities will include assisting with audit preparation and gathering required information, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, following up on outstanding documentation and approvals, and performing general finance administration.
The intern will also participate in training and development activities assigned by management and may be required to assist with other reasonable tasks within the Finance team.
Requirements
Applicants must have a National Diploma or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification in Finance, Accounting, Financial Management, Commerce or a related field.
No prior work experience is required for this opportunity.
Candidates should have a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles and be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Strong numerical and analytical skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and accuracy are important for this role. Candidates must also be able to maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.
Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should have knowledge of basic accounting concepts and principles, together with good data entry and record keeping abilities.
Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills will be beneficial. Candidates should also demonstrate good time management, organisation, integrity, professionalism and accountability.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team, follow instructions and work under supervision is important. Zimmer Biomet is looking for someone who is eager to learn, develop professionally and gain practical experience within a Finance environment.
