About the Opportunity The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) is inviting applications for an Usher Messenger position at the Western Cape Division of the High Court in Cape Town. This is an excellent entry-level government opportunity for applicants with a Grade 10 qualification who are interested in gaining experience in a professional court and public-sector environment. The successful candidate will assist with court proceedings, escort Judges, deliver court documents and provide general messenger and administrative support. Post: Usher Messenger Reference Number: 2026/69/OCJ Centre: Western Cape Division of the High Court: Cape Town Experience: No experience required The successful candidate will also be required to sign a performance agreement. Minimum Requirements Applicants must have: Grade 10 Certificate No previous experience required The following will be an added advantage: Grade 12 Certificate At least one year of experience in general administration General computer knowledge Intermediate computer experience Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a pre-entry practical exercise as part of the assessment process. The exercise will assess the candidate's suitability based on the technical and generic requirements of the position. Skills and Competencies Applicants should have: Good communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Planning and organising skills Computer skills at an intermediate level Ability to work professionally in a court environment Ability to interact respectfully with Judges, legal professionals, court officials and members of the public Good organisational skills Ability to follow instructions and court procedures Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support during court proceedings and assisting with general messenger and administrative duties.
