About the Role
Unilever is looking for a Quality Intern to join its Supply Chain team in Boksburg, Gauteng.
The role focuses on protecting product quality, ensuring compliance with product specifications and supporting the factory in producing safe, consistent and high quality products.
The successful candidate will work in a factory based environment and gain practical exposure to quality testing, analytical processes, laboratory activities, product investigations and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
The Quality Intern will perform the required analytical functions involved in the production of powder products.
You will assist with instrumentation and verification activities and support investigations relating to consumer complaints.
The role will include conducting PQS activities such as pack weight verification, date code verification and seal join checks.
You will also assist with plant and production line start up verification audits and prepare reports and Certificates of Analysis where required.
The successful candidate will perform raw material analysis and assist with maintaining chemical and glassware inventories.
You will provide support during product trials and innovation activities and assist with quality related decision making, including identifying nonconformances, determining when products pass requirements and escalating issues where necessary.
You will help maintain 5S and safety standards within the laboratory and support CAPA, continuous improvement and quality compliance activities.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have a Matric qualification with Mathematics and Science.
A Diploma or Degree in Analytical Chemistry is required, or a Chemistry qualification with Analytical Chemistry as a major.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in an analytical laboratory environment will be advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications
An Analytical Chemistry Diploma will be advantageous.
A qualification in Food Technology or a Biochemistry Diploma will also be considered advantageous.
Skills and Attributes
Candidates should have an interest in quality control, laboratory analysis and manufacturing processes.
Strong attention to detail is important because the role involves testing, measurements, documentation and quality verification.
The ability to work accurately, follow procedures and identify potential quality issues will be essential.
Candidates should also be willing to work as part of a team and contribute to continuous improvement and quality compliance activities.
Working Environment
This is a 100% on site, factory based position in Boksburg. The successful candidate will be required to attend the workplace full time.
