Are you dynamic, client-focused, and passionate about global financial markets?
UBS Investment Bank is seeking ambitious students and recent graduates to join the Global Markets Distribution team in Johannesburg for a 12-month Off-Cycle Internship.
This program offers a comprehensive immersion into sales and trading discipline including advisory, cash equities, derivatives, structured solutions, and equity financing. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will learn how to analyze market data, develop tailored client solutions, and support relationships across asset managers, hedge funds, pension funds, and corporate clients.
Interns who demonstrate exceptional performance throughout the 12-month program may be considered for the prestigious UBS Graduate Talent Program.
What You Will Do
During this 12 month internship, your daily scope will include:
Shadowing Experts: Working closely with senior sales and trading professionals as they advise institutional clients on market trends, investment strategies, and trade execution.
Market Analysis & Insights: Learning to interpret complex market data and translate it into actionable investment insights and pitch books.
Client Solution Development: Assisting in creating tailored financial solutions and structured products that meet specific client investment goals.
Presentation Support: Contributing to the development of market updates, client presentations, and trade idea summaries.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Building professional networks across trading desks, product specialists, research, and operations teams.
Academic & Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for consideration, candidates must meet all of the following criteria:
Academic Background: Currently in your penultimate year, final year, or have graduated within 1 year of starting the internship with an Honours or Master's degree in:
STEM Fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
Finance
Economics
Academic Standing: Strong, proven academic performance throughout your degree.
AI Proficiency: Ability to demonstrate how the experimental and responsible use of AI tools improves personal efficiency and work outcomes.
Work Authorization: Must hold the legal Right to Work in South Africa.

Market Passion: Genuine interest in global macroeconomics, financial markets, and client-facing advisory roles.
Analytical Rigor: Exceptional numerical skills and a high degree of quantitative literacy.
