About the Programme
Standard Bank is offering a 12-month Behavioural Economics Graduate Programme within its Personal & Private Banking (PPB) division.
The programme is ideal for recent postgraduate graduates interested in understanding customer behaviour and using behavioural insights to solve business problems. Graduates will work across functions such as Analytics, Digital, Product, Marketing and Channels.
You will gain practical experience in researching behavioural insights, designing and testing interventions, measuring results and working with multidisciplinary teams to implement successful initiatives.
The programme will provide exposure to areas including financial wellbeing, savings behaviour, credit performance, customer outcomes and internal productivity.
Key Responsibilities
During the programme, you will have the opportunity to:
Use hypothesis-driven approaches to solve business problems.
Research behavioural economics trends and global best practices.
Identify opportunities using customer and behavioural insights.
Design and test behavioural interventions in real-world environments.
Monitor and measure experiments and their outcomes.
Support project planning and implementation.
Work with teams across Digital, Product, Marketing, Analytics and other business areas.
Engage with senior and junior stakeholders.
Present research findings, insights and results.
Contribute ideas and recommendations that add value to the Bank.
Develop practical knowledge and experience in behavioural economics.
Qualifications
Applicants must have an Honours or Master's qualification in one of the following fields:
Economics
Psychology
Cognitive Science
Neuroscience
Organisational Behaviour
Decision Making
Sociology
Business Science
Marketing
Econometrics
Postgraduate qualifications must be completed by 31 December 2026.
Minimum Requirements
Must be a South African citizen.
Work experience, if applicable, should not exceed 24 months.
Must have recently completed or be completing a relevant Honours or Master's qualification.
Must be able to complete a postgraduate qualification by 31 December 2026 if currently studying.
