About the Programme
Shoprite is offering an HR Youth Graduate Programme for emerging Human Resources professionals looking to gain practical experience in a large retail organisation.
The fixed term internship provides hands on exposure to various HR functions, including talent management, employee relations and workforce planning. Interns will receive mentorship and develop practical HR skills that can support their future careers in Human Resources.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist with onboarding and induction programmes to help new employees integrate into the organisation.
You will maintain and update employee records and HR information systems accurately and provide administrative support across various HR functions.
The role will also involve assisting with HR documentation, compliance and process optimisation, as well as communicating HR policies, procedures and employee guidelines to staff.
You will support employee engagement initiatives, wellness programmes and diversity and inclusion activities. You will also assist with organising and scheduling training and development activities.
The successful candidate will compile and analyse HR reports and workforce data to support informed decision making.
You will be expected to ensure compliance with company policies and relevant employment legislation while assisting with performance management processes and related documentation.
You will also respond to employee enquiries confidentially and escalate more complex matters to the appropriate HR specialists.
Requirements
Applicants must have a Diploma in Human Resources or an equivalent qualification. This requirement is highly essential.
A Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate is essential.
Applicants should have little to no experience in an administrative role with exposure to Human Resources.
Skills and Competencies
Candidates should have knowledge of labour legislation, including POPI Act compliance.
Strong organisational skills are required, together with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Applicants should demonstrate accuracy when working with data, documentation and employee records.
The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion is essential.
Strong communication and teamwork skills are also required to work effectively with different departments and stakeholders.
