About Small Enterprise Foundation The Small Enterprise Foundation (SEF) is a not-for-profit, pro-poor microfinance institution committed to the eradication of poverty through financial inclusion, sustainable income generation, job creation and social empowerment. SEF currently supports more than 170,000 micro-entrepreneurs across South Africa through microcredit, savings facilitation and training. About the SEF Graduate Programme The SEF Graduate Programme is a 12-month training and development programme designed for recent graduates who are passionate about making a difference and contributing to the fight against poverty. Successful graduates will gain practical, hands-on experience within a leading South African microfinance organisation and an internationally recognised organisation in the microfinance sector. The programme is designed to develop both professional and interpersonal skills while exposing graduates to different areas of the organisation. Participants will work across various departments, take on diverse responsibilities and gain valuable experience that can support a successful long-term career. The programme also provides graduates with exposure to both SEF's head office and rural areas where the organisation operates. Graduate Programme Structure Rotational Programme During the first six months, successful candidates will participate in a rotational programme designed to provide practical experience across different departments within SEF. Departments may include: Operations Administration Finance Quality Assurance Training Human Resources Research and Development Information Technology (IT) Management Office Departmental Specialisation During the second half of the programme, graduates will be placed within a specific department based on the organisation's requirements and the graduate's interests. This structure provides participants with broad organisational exposure before allowing them to develop more specialised experience in a particular area. Qualifications SEF considers applicants with degrees in the following fields: Social Sciences Business Administration Economics BCom Honours Statistics Auditing Human Resources Information Technology (IT) Requirements To be considered for the SEF Graduate Programme, applicants should meet the following requirements: Strong academic record with an average of 65% throughout the course Excellent written and verbal communication skills Good analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Advanced computer literacy, particularly in the Microsoft Office package Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Self-confident and self-motivated Proven leadership skills and a self-starter attitude Must be a South African citizen Must have a valid South African ID document Who Should Apply?
