About the IT Support Internship
The IT Support Intern will support the IT Helpdesk and Technical Support team with day-to-day desktop management, software installations, user account administration, network troubleshooting, and hardware maintenance.
This opportunity is designed for Information Technology graduates looking to transition their academic qualifications into practical IT service management, system administration, and technical support skills.
Key Responsibilities
First-Line Technical Support: Receive, record, and resolve basic IT support queries logged by staff via the IT Helpdesk ticketing system.
Hardware & Peripheral Support: Assist with the setup, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of desktop PCs, laptops, printers, monitors, and peripheral devices.
Software Maintenance: Install, update, and configure standard operating systems (Windows), office productivity software, antivirus tools, and specialized institutional applications.
Network & Connectivity: Support network connectivity diagnostics, local area network (LAN) troubleshooting, Wi-Fi connections, and remote access configurations.
User & Account Management: Assist with user onboarding, active directory account setups, email configuration, password resets, and access permission updates.
IT Asset Administration: Help maintain an organized IT inventory database, tracking hardware assets, software licenses, and equipment deployments across departments.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Completed Higher Education Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
Computer Literacy: Strong practical literacy in computer hardware, software applications, and internet technologies.
Citizenship / Status: South African Citizen or legal resident eligible for graduate internship placement.

Clear verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with end-users.
Strong attention to detail, administrative capability, and structured record-keeping skills.
