About the Finance Support Internship
The Finance Support Intern will support the Finance Department with daily accounting administration, invoice capturing, general ledger processing, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial documentation control.
This opportunity is designed for accounting graduates looking to transition their academic knowledge into practical accounting routines, internal control procedures, and financial system usage under the guidance of experienced finance professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Receivable Support: Assist with verifying, capturing, and processing supplier invoices, purchase orders, and payment requisitions in accordance with financial policies.
Financial Reconciliations: Perform basic bank, supplier, and account reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and assisting with query resolution.
Journal Entries & Data Capturing: Prepare and post standard journal entries and assist with data entry into the core accounting system.
Audit & Compliance Support: Maintain organized physical and electronic filing systems for financial records, supporting internal and external audit preparation.
General Finance Administration: Assist with ad-hoc financial reporting, routine account queries, and administrative support to the broader finance team.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Completed 3-year National Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management, or a closely related field.
Technical Exposure: Exposure to Microsoft Excel (formulas, data entry) and accounting software packages (such as Pastel, Sage, or similar ERP systems) will be advantageous.
Citizenship / Status: South African Citizen or legal resident eligible for graduate internship placement.
Key Skills & Competencies
High degree of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail when handling financial data.
Good written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.
Strong organizational abilities, time management skills, and capability to prioritize routine administrative tasks.
Basic understanding of fundamental accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reconciliation processes.
Professional integrity, confidentiality, and eagerness to learn in a structured financial environment.
