Minimum Requirements To qualify for the RCL Foods Engineering Internship, applicants should meet the following requirements: A minimum of Grade 12 (Matric). A National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or currently studying towards the qualification. Must require workplace experience to complete their qualification and graduate. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment will be advantageous. Knowledge of mechanical or electrical maintenance practices will be advantageous. Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements in a factory environment will be advantageous. Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office. Good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. Sound decision-making skills, assertiveness and self-confidence. Ability to work under pressure and achieve results. Willingness to work shifts and flexible hours. Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will gain practical engineering experience and assist with the maintenance and operation of manufacturing equipment. Responsibilities will include performing planned, preventive and breakdown maintenance on manufacturing equipment, troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, and conducting inspections and condition monitoring of plant equipment. The intern will also assist with maintaining accurate maintenance records and reports, supporting continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and company procedures. Additional responsibilities will include supporting plant projects, equipment installations and commissioning activities, as well as working closely with production teams to minimise downtime and improve plant performance.
