About the Role Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) is looking for a Math Analyst I to join its team in Midrand, South Africa. This is an entry level opportunity for a graduate with a strong mathematical background who wants to apply knowledge of probability, statistics, combinatorics and programming in a real world environment. As a Math Analyst, you will work closely with the Engineering team to analyse and test casino games before they reach the market. You will be involved in standard game analysis, strategy game analysis and Random Number Generator analysis. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will write programs and perform mathematical analyses to calculate various mathematical features of games. You will develop programs and scripts to manipulate, parse and reorganise large data files into standard formats for testing. The role will also involve conducting and interpreting statistical testing on game simulation results and Random Number Generator data. You will read and interpret jurisdictional requirements and consult with relevant parties where clarification or interpretation is required. You will review and modify programs and analyses developed by other team members to meet testing requirements. The successful candidate will review, understand and document source code written in different programming languages. You will prepare project reports by summarising the testing performed and the results obtained. You will also carefully review analysis work completed by other team members to ensure accuracy, quality and correctness. Client and Team Communication The Math Analyst will communicate with external clients on technical matters in a professional and courteous manner. You will work closely with members of the Math Department and other employees, contributing to effective collaboration and communication across teams. Minimum Requirements Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a closely related discipline. An Associate degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science, together with at least two years of equivalent experience, may also be considered. Certification, formal training or relevant experience may be considered in place of some educational requirements. Applicants must have knowledge of Probability, Statistics and Combinatorics. Knowledge of a modern object oriented programming language such as C++ is required, including an understanding of appropriate object oriented design. You must have an understanding of core programming concepts and techniques. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is also required. Skills and Competencies The successful candidate should have strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable communicating with both internal team members and external contacts. You should be able to organise and manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Strong attention to detail, quality and correctness is essential for this position. The ability to analyse information, solve problems and work accurately with mathematical and statistical data will be important.
