Learning and Development Internship
Takealot.com, one of South Africa’s leading online retailers, is looking for a talented and motivated Learning and Development Intern to join its team at the Cape Town Central Office.
This is an excellent entry level opportunity for an individual who is passionate about Human Resources, employee development and learning. The internship will provide practical workplace experience in a fast paced e commerce environment while allowing the successful candidate to develop both technical and professional skills.
The internship is offered on an 18 month contract.
Qualification Requirements
Applicants must have completed an N6 qualification in Human Resources Management.
No previous work experience is required, making this an entry level opportunity for candidates looking to gain their first professional experience in Human Resources and Learning and Development.
Skills and Knowledge
The successful candidate should have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
Strong data capturing and administrative skills are required, together with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
Knowledge of South African labour legislation, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act and Employment Equity Act, will be important.
Candidates should understand confidentiality requirements and the Protection of Personal Information Act.
An understanding of key HR functions such as recruitment, training, employee benefits and labour relations will be advantageous.
The role also requires strong numerical and analytical skills, good organisational abilities and effective time management.
Candidates should have an understanding of Learning and Development processes, including training coordination, skills development planning and tracking learning interventions.
Knowledge of the Skills Development Act and Skills Development Levies Act, together with a basic understanding of SETA processes such as WSP and ATR submissions, will be advantageous.
The ability to coordinate and schedule training sessions and maintain training records and registers is important.
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems will be beneficial, although candidates who are willing to learn are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
The Learning and Development Intern will provide administrative support to the HR and Learning and Development teams.
Responsibilities will include filing and scanning documents, general HR administration and supporting the employee onboarding process.
The intern will assist the HR team and wider business with employee queries and support HR systems administration across platforms such as Axio, Intranet, The Hub and Greenhouse.
The role will also provide exposure to payroll administration activities, including UI 19 documentation, confirmation of employment and IRP5 related administration.
The successful candidate will assist with HR communications, including new starter emails, as well as various HR and Learning and Development projects.
Training coordination will form an important part of the role. This will include scheduling training sessions, coordinating venues and resources, communicating with attendees and maintaining the L&D training calendar.
The intern will assist with maintaining training records and registers, tracking learning interventions and supporting skills development plans.
Additional responsibilities will include assisting with the preparation of SETA submissions such as WSP and ATR documentation and providing Learning and Development administration support through the Learning Management System.
The intern will also support the coordination of onboarding related training and induction sessions.
