About the Opportunity Ivanplats (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is offering an Artisan Learnership opportunity for suitably qualified South African citizens and permanent RSA residents. Ivanplats is developing the Platreef project in Limpopo Province near Mokopane, a major mining project using large mechanised underground mining methods and advanced technology. The learnership will provide successful candidates with practical training and development towards technical qualifications relevant to mining operations. Artisan Disciplines The programme will provide training in technical disciplines relevant to Ivanplats Mine, including Boilermaker, Diesel Mechanic, Fitter and Turner, Instrumentation, Mechanical Fitter and Millwright. Minimum Requirements Applicants must have a Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics and Physical Science, achieving a minimum of 60% in both subjects. Applicants must also have an N2 qualification in Engineering Studies. A minimum of 2 years of working experience as an Artisan Assistant is required. Programme Duration and Conditions Successful candidates will be enrolled in the learnership for a maximum period of 3 years or until they receive their relevant Trade Qualification, whichever comes first. Candidates must be prepared to work both underground and on the surface across mining operations relevant to their qualification. Successful applicants must be able to pass the relevant medical fitness examination and be willing to undergo the required capability assessment. Documents Required Applicants must submit a CV, certified copies of their qualifications, a South African Identity Document and a letter from the relevant Tribal Authority or Induna. Who Can Apply Applications are open to South African Citizens and Permanent RSA Residents. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South Africans from local communities surrounding the Ivanplats Platreef Mine, as well as women.
