Meadow Feeds has been supplying safe, high-quality animal feed to livestock producers across Southern Africa for more than 80 years. The company provides innovative feed solutions and technical services covering animal nutrition, feeding programmes, animal husbandry, and production techniques.
A vacancy is available for a Graduate Nutritionist to join the Meadow Feeds team in Paarl, Western Cape, on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Assisting with feed formulation and animal nutrition under the guidance of senior nutritionists.
Providing nutritional and technical support to operations, field staff, and customers.
Assisting with laboratory operations, quality assurance, and feed quality monitoring.
Supporting feed trials, nutritional evaluations, data analysis, and reporting.
Maintaining accurate technical records.
Completing routine administrative and operational tasks within the nutrition function.
Working with production, quality, technical, and commercial teams to support operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
Supporting compliance with relevant industry legislation and company standards, including Act 36 of 1947, the AFMA Code of Conduct, and the Astral Code of Conduct.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
A BSc Agricultural degree with a major in Animal Nutrition, preferably with a monogastric focus.
A postgraduate qualification in Animal Nutrition will be advantageous.
Recent graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
Exposure to poultry and/or pig production systems will be advantageous.
Sound understanding of animal nutrition and feed formulation principles.
Ability to apply nutrition and feed formulation knowledge practically and logically.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with data, calculations, and technical tasks.
Ability to take initiative, work independently, and follow through on assigned tasks under the guidance of senior nutritionists.
Good time-management and prioritisation skills.
Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
A valid Code 8 driver's licence.
Fluency in English and Afrikaans.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with a strong interest in animal nutrition and feed production. The successful applicant should be technically minded, accurate, organised, and able to balance technical, administrative, and operational responsibilities in a fast-paced working environment.
Nature of the Role
This is a mill-based position within a 24/7 operation. The role combines technical nutrition, routine administration, and operational support. The successful candidate will therefore be required to have regular availability after normal working hours when necessary.
