About the Graduate Programme WSP Africa is inviting applications for its Graduate Engineer: Overhead Lines opportunity based in Midrand. This programme is ideal for graduates in Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering who want to build a career in power transmission and distribution infrastructure. As part of the Power & Energy team, you will receive hands-on experience while working on real engineering projects covering transmission lines, structural design, route studies and construction support. You will also receive mentorship and structured professional development while working towards professional registration with ECSA. Key Responsibilities As a Graduate Engineer, you will: Support the planning, feasibility and detailed design of overhead transmission and distribution lines. Assist with route studies, line profiling, tower and pole spotting. Perform sag-and-tension calculations and loading assessments. Develop skills in PLS-CADD and other overhead line design software. Assist with the design of towers, poles, cross-arms, foundations, anchors and related structures. Coordinate with survey, geotechnical, environmental, structural and electrical engineering teams. Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and bills of quantities. Participate in design reviews, site inspections and construction support activities. Apply engineering quality, safety and project standards throughout project delivery. Minimum Requirements Applicants must have: A BEng or BSc Engineering degree in: Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering Structural Engineering Qualification obtained from an ECSA-accredited institution or an equivalent recognised qualification. Be a recent graduate or final-year student who will complete the qualification before employment begins. Strong understanding of: Structural analysis Engineering mathematics Mechanics Materials Engineering design principles A genuine interest in power transmission infrastructure and overhead line engineering. Basic knowledge of engineering software or drafting tools.
