GBS is inviting applications for its Intern Finance Graduate opportunity within Cubix in Durban, KwaZulu Natal. This is a 12 month paid internship designed for finance graduates looking to gain practical workplace experience and develop their skills in financial administration, accounting, reconciliations, tax, reporting and audit processes.

As a Finance Intern, you will become part of the finance team and assist with various accounting, reporting, reconciliation, tax and administrative activities.

Key Responsibilities
The successful Finance Intern will support bookkeepers with creditor functions, including supplier reconciliations, invoice verification and VAT compliance.
You will assist with month end journals, account reconciliations and financial reporting activities while gaining practical experience in the month end and year end financial processes.
The role will also involve supporting the Procurement function with cost approvals and the preparation and maintenance of relevant documentation.
The Finance Intern will assist with canteen cash ups and ensure that cash is accurately reconciled and reported.
You will help maintain and balance intercompany accounts and provide support during internal and external audit processes.
The internship will provide exposure to tax reconciliation activities involving VAT, EMP and Income Tax, as well as other finance related processes.
You will also support revenue processes, including invoicing, DebiCheck and variance analysis.
Additional responsibilities will include general finance administration, stock and asset counts, filing and participation in ad hoc finance projects.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must be South African citizens and must have a National Senior Certificate or Grade 12.
Candidates must hold a three year Diploma or Degree in Finance or a related finance qualification obtained from a recognised public tertiary institution.
Applicants should have an analytical mindset, strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately with financial information.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Sage is required.
Knowledge of VAT, IFRS and SARS legislation will be important for the role, together with an understanding of audit and reconciliation processes.
Applicants must have a clear criminal record and a clear ITC record.
Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
Applicants must currently be unemployed and must not be participating in another internship or learnership programme.

The ideal candidate should have strong numerical and analytical abilities, attention to detail and an interest in developing a career in finance.
Good organisational skills, accuracy, accountability and the ability to work effectively with others will be beneficial in this position.
