About the Opportunity
Coronation is offering four Trainee Research Analyst positions as part of the Coronation Catapult Programme, providing an exciting opportunity for graduates who are passionate about investments and financial markets.
The programme is designed to recruit and develop young graduates into Research Analysts while they are placed at stockbroking firms.
Successful trainees will receive structured learning, mentorship and on the job support while gaining broad exposure to the investment research environment.
The programme is delivered in partnership with Chronux Research and Anchor Stockbrokers, with two positions available at Chronux Research and two at Anchor Stockbrokers.
What You Will Do
The successful candidates will assist experienced analysts with research projects across different sectors.
You will attend meetings with company management and Investment Research teams while gaining practical insight into the investment research process.
The role will also involve supporting research administration, preparing presentations for report backs and roadshows, and assisting analysts with spreadsheet models and company analysis.
Trainees may also be involved in various ad hoc research projects and activities as required.
Coronation Catapult Programme
As part of the Catapult Programme, trainees will receive additional development focused on important professional skills.
Training will include areas such as critical thinking, resilience, business communication skills and coaching.
The programme is designed to help graduates develop both the technical and professional capabilities required to progress towards a career as a Research Analyst.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have a BCom, BBus Sci, CFA, Actuarial Science or Engineering qualification.
Applicants with a degree majoring in Accounting, Investments, Finance, Economics or Mathematics may also be considered.
The opportunity is particularly suited to graduates who can demonstrate a genuine passion for investments and financial markets.
Skills and Competencies
Successful candidates should have strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
Applicants should be able to take initiative and demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
Strong numerical ability is important, together with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Candidates should also be able to demonstrate strong academic performance through diligence and perseverance.

Programme Details
The programme will run for 23 months on a fixed term contract, with an expected start date of January 2027.
Trainees will be based at stockbroking offices in either Cape Town or Johannesburg.
Two trainees will be placed with Chronux Research and two with Anchor Stockbrokers.
The salary is market related.
