Overview
The Limpopo Department of Health is inviting qualified Medical Practitioners to apply for 151 Sessional Medical Officer positions available at hospitals across the province.
These opportunities are intended for experienced medical practitioners who are registered as Independent Medical Practitioners with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and are willing to provide after-hours clinical services at public hospitals.
Successful applicants will be contracted to render 20 sessions per week in accordance with approved Departmental sessional tariffs and operational requirements.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
An appropriate medical qualification that allows registration as an Independent Medical Practitioner.
Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
At least 3 years of experience after Community Service.
Willingness to render 20 sessions per week.
South African citizenship or permanent residency.
A valid driver's licence.
Computer literacy, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and after-hours services.
Experience Requirements
Grade 1
Less than 5 years' appropriate experience after registration as an Independent Medical Practitioner.
Grade 2
At least 5 years but less than 10 years' appropriate experience.
Grade 3
10 years or more appropriate experience after registration.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
Provide quality clinical and emergency medical care.
Conduct ward rounds and outreach services.
Respond to emergency calls and disaster situations.
Maintain accurate clinical records.
Participate in quality improvement programmes and clinical audits.
Follow departmental clinical protocols.
Supervise and mentor interns, Community Service Medical Officers and Registrars where required.
Participate in continuing medical education and professional development.
Perform additional duties allocated by management based on operational needs.

Proof of current HPCSA registration as an Independent Medical Practitioner.

Important Information

Applicants residing more than 200 km from the hospital where they wish to render services will not be considered.
