Sappi is inviting applications from eligible South African youth for its comprehensive undergraduate Engineering and Forestry Science Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year. This bursary provides full financial support for full-time degree studies at accredited South African universities. In addition to financial funding, Sappi bursars receive hands-on practical exposure through compulsory vacation work during the July and December university holidays. Graduates who successfully complete their degrees under the bursary scheme qualify for consideration and entry into the prestigious Sappi Engineer-in-Training Programme, launching a direct pathway into a professional engineering career. Bursary Coverage & Financial Benefits Depending on the applicant's household income, the Sappi bursary funding package may include: Full University Tuition Fees Prescribed Textbooks and Learning Materials University Accommodation / Allowance Monthly Living Allowance Paid Vacation Work experience (July & December) Direct pipeline into the Sappi Engineer-in-Training Graduate Programme Supported Fields of Study Bursaries are available for full-time undergraduate study (BSc or BEng) in the following fields: Chemical Engineering Civil Engineering Electrical Engineering Forestry and Wood Science Industrial Engineering Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics Engineering Minimum Eligibility Requirements To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet all of the following criteria: Citizenship: South African citizen. Age Limit: Between 17 and 25 years old. Academic Status: Currently in Matric (Grade 12) or have completed Matric. Minimum Academic Results: Mathematics: 70% or higher (Mathematics Literacy is not accepted). Physical Science: 70% or higher. English: 60% or higher. (Grade 11 final results will be evaluated if currently in Grade 12). Institution: Must intend to study full-time at a recognized South African university supported by Sappi.
