About the Opportunity The South African Police Service (SAPS) is inviting applications for two permanent Garden Worker positions within the Operational Response Service Division. Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining gardens, lawns and surrounding outdoor areas, ensuring SAPS premises remain clean, safe and well-maintained. Available Posts KwaZulu-Natal Durban Harbour K9, Salmon Grove (Border Policing) Reference Number: ORS90/2026 Number of Posts: 1 Gauteng National Intervention Unit, Bon Accord, Pretoria Reference Number: ORS91/2026 Number of Posts: 1 Minimum Requirements Applicants must: Be a South African citizen Be proficient in English and at least one other official South African language Possess an ABET Level 4, Grade 9, Standard 7 or NQF Level 1 qualification Produce documentary proof of qualifications when requested Be willing to work extended hours when required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Applicants should have: Understanding of handling cleaning detergents and gardening materials Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures Basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills Ability to read and write Ability to interact professionally with colleagues Ability to operate basic gardening equipment and machinery Good physical fitness for outdoor work Ability to work independently and as part of a team Duties and Responsibilities Successful candidates will be responsible for: Cultivating and maintaining garden areas Preparing soil for planting flowers, shrubs and plants Fertilising, irrigating, pruning and weeding flower beds Mowing lawns and trimming edges Watering gardens and landscaped areas Loading and unloading gardening equipment and materials Removing refuse from the premises Loading refuse for transportation to disposal sites Maintaining cleanliness and neatness of all assigned outdoor areas Assisting with general maintenance of SAPS grounds Required Documents Applicants should prepare the following documents: Completed and signed Z83 Application Form Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) Certified copies of qualifications, ID and other supporting documents will only be required from shortlisted candidates in line with current DPSA application requirements.
