Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
Be a South African citizen
Be proficient in English and at least one other official South African language
Possess an ABET Level 4, Grade 9, Standard 7 or NQF Level 1 qualification
Produce documentary proof of qualifications when requested
Be willing to work extended hours when required
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Successful applicants should have:
Knowledge of handling cleaning detergents and chemicals
Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures
Basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills
Ability to read and write
Ability to interact professionally with colleagues
Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment and machines
Good work ethic and reliability
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene inside and outside SAPS premises
Cleaning offices, corridors and workstations
Dusting furniture and equipment
Polishing furniture and floors
Vacuuming carpets
Sweeping and mopping floors
Cleaning kitchens and bathrooms
Removing refuse and waste
Carrying out general maintenance duties around the premises
Safekeeping and proper handling of cleaning materials and equipment
Loading and unloading goods when required
Washing and cleaning state vehicles
Cleaning kitchenware and utensils
Assisting in maintaining a clean, safe and healthy working environment
