About the Opportunity
The Department of Civilian Secretariat for Police Service (CSPS) is inviting applications for the position of Accounting Clerk. Successful candidates will provide financial administration support by processing payments, maintaining financial records, assisting with salary administration, performing bookkeeping functions, and supporting internal financial control processes.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) or equivalent qualification
Basic knowledge of financial administration functions
Ability to capture financial data accurately
Ability to compile and collate financial statistics
Basic knowledge of Public Finance legislation, Treasury Regulations and financial procedures
Knowledge of financial systems such as PERSAL, BAS, LOGIS or similar government financial systems
Understanding of legislation governing the Public Service
Computer literacy
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good planning and organisational skills
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Good time management skills
Ability to work under pressure

Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
Financial Administration
Receive and verify invoices for correctness and approval.
Process invoices and capture payments.
Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded.
Salary Administration
Receive salary advices.
Process salary transactions including bonuses, salary adjustments and deductions.
Maintain salary administration records.
Bookkeeping Support
Capture financial transactions.
Process electronic banking transactions.
Compile journals.
Clear suspense accounts.
Record debtors and creditors.
Maintain accurate financial records.
Internal Control
Support activities that strengthen financial control processes.
Assist in identifying control measures to reduce non-compliance.
Maintain an effective filing and document management system.
Ensure financial records are complete, accurate and easily accessible.
