About the Opportunity
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) Transport Department is inviting applications for a Student Internship Programme within its Finance Branch (Revenue Section). This internship forms part of the City's commitment to providing unemployed students and graduates with valuable workplace experience to complement their studies and improve their employability.
The internship is offered for a period not exceeding 18 months and is open to qualifying youth who reside within the City of Johannesburg and have not previously participated in an internship programme, unless the previous internship was unrelated to their field of study.
Successful candidates will gain practical experience in revenue management, inventory control, banking processes and municipal financial administration while working within the Transport Department.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
Be a resident of the City of Johannesburg
Have Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
Hold or be studying towards a Diploma or Degree in Accounting or a related qualification (NQF Level 6/7)
Have no previous relevant work experience
Have not previously participated in an internship programme relevant to their qualification

Inventory management
Cash management
Banking and reconciliation processes
Financial reporting
Maintaining compliance with City policies and MFMA regulations
Resolving audit findings
Supporting clean audit initiatives

Basic understanding of GRAP Standards and the MFMA (advantageous)
