About the Bursary
The Capitec External Bursary Programme 2027 is designed to support talented South African students who are pursuing qualifications that are critical to the future of banking, financial services, technology, data, and analytics. Capitec is looking for students who demonstrate strong academic ability, problem-solving skills, learning agility, innovation, and a desire to make a meaningful impact in the financial sector.
The programme not only provides financial assistance but also aims to prepare students for future careers through personal development, workplace readiness support, and opportunities to engage with one of South Africa's leading banks.
What the Bursary Covers
Successful bursary recipients may receive funding for:
Registration fees
Tuition fees
Accommodation costs
Prescribed textbooks and study materials
Meal allowance
Additional student support and development initiatives
Work-readiness and personal development opportunities
The bursary is renewable annually based on academic performance, student engagement, and available funding.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Capitec External Bursary Programme 2027, applicants must:
Be a South African citizen.
Be registered or planning to register for full-time studies during 2027.
Be studying at a recognised DHET/CHE registered tertiary institution.
Be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or Honours qualification (NQF Level 7 or higher).
Achieve a minimum average of 65%.
Demonstrate strong academic potential and leadership qualities.
Show a passion for innovation, problem-solving, and continuous learning.
Can Grade 12 Learners Apply?
Yes.
The bursary is open to:
Current Grade 12 learners.
Students taking a gap year after matric.
First-year, second-year, and final-year university students.
Honours students who will be studying full-time in 2027.
Required Supporting Documents
Applicants should prepare the following documentation:
Certified copy of South African ID
Latest academic transcripts
Grade 12 results (if applicable)
Proof of registration or acceptance at a recognised institution
Updated CV
Any additional documents requested during the application process
Candidates may also be required to complete assessments, interviews, and screening processes as part of the selection process.
Work-Back Obligation
Students who receive the bursary will be required to work for Capitec after completing their studies for a period linked to the years of funding received. Failure to meet this obligation may require repayment of bursary funds in accordance with the bursary agreement.
